2016 Liberty Lake Guide
and Spokane Valley Guide Photography Contests
About the Contest:
Photographers of all skill levels are invited to submit images that best embody the spirit of the community for either the 2016 Liberty Lake Guide or the 2016 Spokane Valley Guide. Photos can be of events, places, nature scenes or whatever best represents Liberty Lake/the traditional Valley area in the photographer's mind.
Peridot Publishing, publisher of The Splash and The Current, is sponsoring this photography contest for the Liberty Lake community and greater Valley area. Selected photos will be used on the pages of these newly-branded guides (formerly known as the Liberty Lake Community Directory and the One Valley Business and Community Directory). Prizes will be awarded to the top three winners.
Who May Enter:
Photographers (amateur or professional) age 16 years and older are eligible to enter. Liberty Lake/Valley residents are encouraged to enter, but you do not need to be a resident to win.
Individuals affiliated with Peridot Publishing, including employees and their immediate families (children, siblings and spouses) - are ineligible. Peridot Publishing will determine winners' eligibility.
Photograph Eligibility:
Photographs must have been shot by the entrant within the past three (3) calendar years (since January 1, 2013).
Photos that violate or infringe upon another person's rights, including copyright, are not eligible. For a photo in which a person is a focal point and recognizable, you must secure a model release from the subject or, in the case of a minor, the subject's parent or guardian and provide it to Peridot Publishing upon request. Photographs that have won any other contests or have been published in magazines and newspapers (except online) are not eligible to be entered. Winning is defined as having won a grand prize or 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place overall.
Cropped photos are eligible to enter. Peridot Publishing reserves the right to crop as needed, taking care not to compromise the integrity of the image. We will not, however, accept digitally or otherwise enhanced or altered photos. Minor adjustments, including spotting, dodging and burning, sharpening, contrast and slight color adjustment or the digital equivalents, are acceptable. If our judges see that a photographer has obviously altered his or her photo, Peridot Publishing reserves the right to disqualify it.
How to Enter:
Please submit digital images via email with "Liberty Lake Photo Contest" or "Spokane Valley Photo Contest" in the subject line to guide@libertylakesplash.com. Include name, address and phone number along with a photo date and location with each submission.
Up to three photographs can be submitted per entrant. We will not accept more than one contestant per email address and we will not accept photographs submitted through the postal service.
Photographs must be in a .jpeg, .jpg or .gif format at a size of at least 300 dpi at 8 x 10 inches. Vertical photos may receive greater consideration due to guide orientation. Digital photographs should be taken at the highest resolution possible. High-quality scans of non-digital photographs are acceptable.
Entry deadline:
All entries must be received via email by midnight on Jan. 15, 2016. A confirmation email will be sent when the entry is received.
Judging & Prizes:
Judging will be conducted by the employees of Peridot Publishing. Decisions of the judges will be final. Prizes will be awarded in the forms of gift cards (one per winner) to any advertiser in the 2016 LL Guide/2016 SV Guide who offers gift cards. They will be awarded as follows:
• 1st place: $100 gift card plus recognition inside the guide
• 2nd place: $50 gift card plus recognition inside the guide
• 3rd place: $25 gift card plus recognition inside the guide
Photographers of the winning entries will be contacted by the end of February 2016. The winning photos as well as selected finalists will be included in the 2016 LL Guide/2016 SV Guide to be distributed in Spring 2016.
Terms and conditions:
• Peridot Publishing's LL Guide and SV Guide photo contests begin Nov. 1, 2015 and end Jan. 15, 2016. By submitting an entry, each contestant agrees to the rules of the contest and states that they are 16 years old or older.
• By entering the contest, entrants grant Peridot Publishing a royalty-free, perpetual, non-exclusive license to display, distribute, reproduce, and create derivative works of the entries, in whole or in part, in any media now existing or subsequently developed, for any educational, promotional, publicity, exhibition, archival, scholarly, and all other standard Peridot Publishing purposes. Any photograph reproduced will include a photographer credit as feasible. Peridot Publishing will not be required to pay any additional consideration or seek any additional approval in connection with such uses.
• The contest is void where prohibited or restricted by law. Peridot Publishing reserves the right to cancel the contest or modify these rules at its discretion. Decisions of Peridot Publishing representatives will be final.
