Mellish wins service award
The Washington Association of Sewer and Water Districts recently recognized Lee Mellish, general manager of the Liberty Lake Sewer and Water District, for outstanding service.
The statewide honor named Mellish for his leadership example, his understanding of and attention to good governance, his ability to attract and retain excellent staff, his environmental stewardship and his character, according to a news release.
The award also highlighted the district's efforts to install "purple pipe" for water reuse and a recent award for the sewage treatment plant from the state Department of Ecology for outstanding performance. Mellish also helped create and has participated in the Spokane Aquifer Joint Board.
Mellish will be recognized at a Sept. 16 event at the Washington Association of Sewer and Water Districts' annual conference in Spokane.
