Thanks to those responsible for securing Symphony concert
I just wanted to acknowledge the late Lud Kramer, Scott Bernhard, Chris Apted and Jim Frank for having the foresight to make sure that the Spokane Symphony would be a fixture at our Labor Day weekend.

Without the support of Greenstone, Lud and the city of Liberty Lake with Scott's personal support, the Symphony would not be an annual event at Pavillion Park. Thanks so much for their efforts!

Car show's rerouted traffic made for dangerous scene

I would like to express my disappointment and disapproval of the decision to allow a car show in the middle of Liberty Lake Road that required traffic to be re-routed through parking lots Friday night. The traffic through the parking lot was chaotic and unsupervised. It created a dangerous inconvenience and was borderline negligent.

I hope the paper prints an article about the decision, and I have to believe there will be a lot of complaints.

Liberty Lake Days made for fabulous weekend event
Wow, what a great weekend! Liberty Lake Days 2010 was a hit. Even the weather cooperated.

On Friday evening, we watched as classic and collectible cars cruised Liberty Lake Road. After the cars parked, we were able to view each of those cars up close and speak with the owners. It was fun to see Liberty Lake Road filled, not with traffic, but with families, people, couples and children walking in the street. The music helped set the mood for cruising. Two words for next year's cruising night: street dance!

On Saturday, we went to Pavillion Park to see all the activities there. We enjoyed looking at the Liberty Lake Art Society's colorful art work, Ross Schneidmiller's historic display of Liberty Lake's past All-Valley Picnics (loved the hat!), carefree children playing carnival games and seeing all the people enjoying a summer day in our own community. The vendors had very nice selections. The map handed out explained exactly where everything was located, which made finding events and vendors easy. The entire park felt like a fun community fair to us.

A big thank you to all involved in making this weekend into the fun and memorable event it was. We are already looking forward to Liberty Lake Days 2011.

Library thankful for its ‘Friends'
The Liberty Lake Municipal Library would like to formally thank the Friends of the Liberty Lake Municipal Library for its service to our community.

The Friends of the Library organization sells books, puts on events and volunteers at library functions. Without the Friends, many of the library programs and furniture would not be possible. This year, the organization has purchased new bookshelves for the children's room, helped with books and programming for the Summer Reading Program and continuing financial support to the library.

We are so grateful for this group's existence. Many of the children and parents who have come into the library this summer have remarked on the selection of free books for summer reading. This is due to the generosity of the Friends of the Library.

Please help us in thanking the Friends of the Library. If you are interested in learning more, please check out the organization's website, www.libertylakefriends.org.
