The "Tulips and Tea" fifth annual spring event was enjoyed by all. Ladies from the community joined together to enjoy tea, conversation about the tea cup they brought with them, and great speakers.

Tracy Rebstock gave a history of tea, beginning with her own family traditions through use by modern-day Americans as well as the origins of tea. She offered some wise tips for tea drinkers for the perfect cup.

Carolyn Starner, author of "Emerald Journey: A Walk Through Gardens of the Northwest," did a slide presentation and talked about gardens from Oregon north to British Columbia. Her own garden will be on the garden tour route on June 20 this summer.

FRIENDS of the Liberty Lake Library want to thank the sponsors of the event: Bernardo Wills Architects, $300; Giff Marleau, $100; Mayor Wendy Van Orman, $100; and Valorie Marschall and Jack Smith, $100. The sponsors were given certificates of support for their sponsorship.  Ellen Bernardo was also recognized for her support of the tea by hosting two tables, contributing to the silent auction, and forever supporting the FRIENDS event.

Annette Carter created the theme of the event, "Tulips and Tea," by contributing rights to the original watercolor she did for the group's tea. Her original painting was donated for the silent auction, and it was used for the programs, tickets and advertising of the event. The FRIENDS of the Liberty Lake Municipal Library recognized Annette as an honorary "Corporate Friend" of the library for her gracious contribution.
