About Us

Founded in 1999, The Liberty Lake Splash is the source of news and information for the greater Liberty Lake, Wash., area. A free newspaper, The Splash is shipped directly to every address in Liberty Lake each Thursday and is delivered online to every person surfing the World Wide Web with regular content updates throughout the week. Since 2004, The Splash has been owned by Peridot Publishing LLC, the legal entity set up in Liberty Lake to operate The Splash and its related publications, including the Community Directories.

Members of The Splash team include:

Josh Johnson, Publisher
Josh came to The Splash in March 2004 after working in various journalism jobs in the Midwest, including time as a reporter, copy editor and opinion page editor. Josh was raised in Liberty Lake and graduated from Central Valley High School. He received a bachelors degree in journalism from John Brown University in Siloam Springs, Ark. His grandparents moved to Liberty Lake in the 1950s, and various members of his family have lived in the community ever since.  
Kim Johnson, Business Manager
Kim joined The Splash team in March 2004. Her background is in social work, and she has worked as a houseparent for at-risk teens and at a domestic violence shelter among other jobs in the field. She keeps The Splash books, working out of the Liberty Lake home she shares with husband, Josh, and their daughters, Kylie and Jaysa. A native of Decatur, Ill., she received her bachelors degree in family and human services from John Brown University in Siloam Springs, Ark.

Hope Brumbach, Editor
Hope became editor of The Splash in May 2008. She grew up in Coeur d'Alene and graduated with a bachelors degree in journalism and political studies from Whitworth University in Spokane. She spent three years as an award-winning reporter for The Daily News in Longview, Wash. She has also freelanced for several local magazines and The Spokesman-Review. She is married to Dr. Zach Brumbach, who operates Brumbach Family Dentistry in Post Falls.

Janet Pier, Account Executive
Janet started work at The Splash in August 2006. She has several years of experience in media advertising, including work with KZZU-FM, Oldies 101.1 FM and the Belo Corporation representing Northwest Cable News. Janet grew up in South Carolina, studied business at the University of Montana, moved to Spokane in 1985, and now resides in Liberty Lake with her husband, Dave, and their two children.

Tammy Kimberley, Special Projects Editor
Tammy Kimberley joined The Splash in January 2008 after working as a communications coordinator in Illinois, Ohio and Wisconsin. Tammy guides the production of a variety of special sections for The Splash and the community directories published by Peridot Publishing LLC. Tammy grew up in Decatur, Ill., and received a degree in journalism from John Brown University. Tammy is married to her husband, Chad, and they have three children.

Sarah Burk, Graphics Editor
Sarah Burk joined The Splash in February 2008. She previously worked for several Spokane-area printing companies as a graphic designer. She received a bachelors degree in graphic design from Montana State University in 2005. Sarah lives in Spokane Valley with her husband, Bret Burk, who is an inside sales and customer service representative for Keller Supply in Coeur d' Alene. Sarah helps produce the weekly issue of the Liberty Lake Splash, special sections and community directories.
